Hellooo! It's been a busy past few weeks with a few trips out of town, but really, really good times! I'll catch up with a summer scrapbook:

Three weeks ago, we went up to Nederland for a birthday party and some music (MST!), and spent the night there. We drove to Estes Park the next day to camp one more night.

Rocky Mountain National Park is just west, and Estes Park is home to the Stanley Hotel. It was built as a resort in 1909 and is wonderfully haunted (as proven by Ghost Hunters!). Stephen King was inspired by a stay there to write The Shining.

We had lunch in town, then hung out for a while by a lake~ the water was way too cold to swim, but it still felt so nice.

Pointy pointer:

Time for a drink! We went to the Stanley.

The back entrance and courtyard:

We didn't stay for long since Gretel was in the camper. The hotel brews its own beer~ Redrum Ale. Redrum! REDRUM!

The campsite was okay. We got dinner in town, so we didn't need to cook. The kids played guitar for a while.

We were all pretty tired, so we turned in early. Sam is playing with playdough here, but don't the curtains look fabulous? :)

We drove back home the next morning, then Gil took the whole following week off. It was good to have everybody home, to enjoy being together and relax for a few days before the next big weekend...
