Yesterday afternoon, Cat and I went up to the woods to look for wildflowers. The more delicate ones were pretty beat down from last week's storm, but all of the rain and warmer weather have brought new ones. We saw a doe all by herself, but she walked away and seemed to go on about her business. Cat and I sat down for a few minutes, just talking and poking a big decaying mushroom with a stick, and then we saw this under a bush~

Just about the most precious thing I have ever seen! Cat and I both had tears in our eyes~ the pretty spots like sunlight and those dainty little hooves! I just had to get a picture (wish it was better), but I hope we didn't frighten him/her or the mama too much. It was such a wonderful moment together for my little fawn and me. Oh, we saw some blooming cactus, too.

It seems lazy summer has set in this week. Cottonwood fluff is in the breeze, and thunderstorm clouds build up in the afternoons. I want to take a couple of weeks off from painting to catch up on projects around the house and just have some fun with the kids. I picked up the dulcimer last weekend and oh man, I need to practice. Anyway, I did finish this~

It sounds like an awesome festival~ not too big, really nice campgrounds and lots of great CO bands! We can't be there since Gil's playing in Denver then, but if anyone's interested~ www.sawatchfestival.com

Summertime, time, time. Child, the living's easy...

Oh!!! How beautiful! I wonder where Mama is? Maybe out foraging for a bit. :)

It was such a surprise! Carmen, we were wondering if she was out eating, or if when we saw her earlier (I guess that doe was the mother), she was trying to distract us. I wish I could see them together!
