Who who whooo finally finished a new painting? I did! :)

SCOUT
8x10 inches, acrylic & ink
She is Artemis, Diana, and every wild-willed woman of the woods.

I used this for reference:

but I got carried away with the grass and lost the wonderful roots. The dead limbs on the ground are left from when the town did some fire mitigation and never picked them up. Sam and some other boys are always moving them around and building lean-tos and forts with them. They've made a whole town, called Treeside. It's always getting blown or knocked down, but they keep building it back. They mine for rocks that they use as money and keep it buried in a bank. They've cleared an arena for sword fighting and use another tree as a lookout tower. There are piles of yucca pods and seeds up there, but I'm not really sure what they're for. I wish I could play, too!

It's been a busy and exciting month, though. A couple weekends ago, Gil and I went to see New Riders of the Purple Sage. I was asked to display some pieces at Castle Rock Music, a music store in a town just southwest of mine. I've made some wonderful new friends through this, and last Saturday, my new friend Karen, Monette, Cat and I went to see the Potcheen Folk Band (I'm trying to figure out how to link here...), a Celtic-folk-rock-punk-pirate band~ much fun and dancing! Oh and Cat got her learner's permit and is now on the road! Ack!!!

It's hard to believe that the kids will both be back in school in a couple of weeks, and soon after that, we'll start having cooler weather. Enjoy the last of these lazy summer days~
