I saw snowflakes last night! It wasn't much, but the sleet turned into snow around midnight, just as I finished this drawing~
I'm still playing around with the crows and there will be wheat in the rest of the field, too. I'm not totally sure about that mouth, but a big jack-o-lantern smile looked a little insane. It might be a while before I can paint him since we have costumes to make! The kids are both out for fall break, so they're helping. We're having a party on November 1~ we have a lot to do (mostly all fun) and it's so good having them home! The costumes are a surprise, but I will say that they're going to ROCK. ;)
Speaking of crafty things, the wind is really doing a number on my poor dancing ghosts. I thought the dowels were thick enough, but they keep snapping off at the ground. Now they're lying in a sad pile around the base of the tree, and I'll stand them back up on days that aren't so windy. Cold today, leaves blowing off the trees. Mmmmm fall goodness.

what a spooky fun painting! I think you're right about the mouth ;) Or you could just do an "0" and he could be surprised, lol. LOVE the dancing ghosts! What a great idea! That wind better settle down!
Maybe some PVC pipe will work in place of the dowels to keep your ghosties flowing in the breeze. Great scarecrow!
I thought about a round mouth, too! And I think his eyes will be smaller~ they might be more expressive? I saw the ghosts years ago in Martha Stewart Living. LOL!
PVC is a great idea~ thank you! :) My husband drove the dowels deeper into the ground, and that's helped a lot but I'm going to get some when I take them down so they're ready for next year. :)
